We use a Texa Konfort 650 machine to carry out aircon re-gas and to diagnose faults.  Once this machine is connected up to your car, its operation is fully automatic.

It extracts the refrigerant from the vehicle, before vaccuming and drying the aircon system.  It then checks for leaks, before recharging the system with the correct quantities of refrigerant, uv tracer dye and lubricant.

Once this is done the machine performs a system check, and delivers a print-out.

Every year your car may lose up to a quarter of the refrigerant from its air conditioning system. This means that the engine and aircon compressor have to work harder for the same level of cooling. If the system is not 'topped up' periodically fuel consumption will be affected, and the extra stress on the aircon system may cause premature component failure.

Stale Air Smells?

If your car's aircon system is unused for any length of time, for example during the winter, you're likely to notice a stale, damp and musty smell coming from the air vents when you switch it on again.  This is caused by a build-up of detritus and various types of bacteria in the system - not a healthy situation! However help is at hand: our full aircon service will get your car smelling sweet again.

What We Do

All of the old refrigerant, which may contain moisture or contaminants, is drawn out of the aircon system.  It is then refilled with the correct quantity of refrigerant, to which a small quantity of ultra-violet tracer dye is added.  This dye helps to locate leaks, should any occur.

We also remove all the lubricant (PAG oil) from the compressor and refill with new none hydroscopic PAG oil. This PAG oil is not avalible from within the UK so we import it especially from America.

We then replace the pollen filter, which traps not just pollen, but any foreign objects which get in to the aircon system, finally we use Viro air conditioning decontamination spray to kill the bacteria that lives within the air conditioning system which is the cause of musty smells in modern air conditioned cars.
